Have you ever been at school or in a public place and done something that you would consider an ‘epic fail’? I have. You have. We all have. It’s normal. We all have a moment in our lives where we think to ourselves. “OMG! I can’t believe I did that. I’m such an idiot.” Or something very similar. It’s very easy to beat yourself up about it. Often, it’s not a bad thing that you’re thinking about it. But it’s often better to laugh it off. Let’s be honest, no one else is thinking about it (unless it was really funny).
My Epic Fail 😀
There was one day this year when I was leaving work and it had been snowing pretty badly. This meant that it was very slippery. You can see where this is going. Anyway, I had no grip in the snow and I managed to slip over and land on my face right outside of my work. This was extra funny for all of my colleagues because I had left angrily due to an incident at work. Basically, I got up, laughed it off and walked into the next shop to change my shoes.
You may be wondering why I decided to share this with you. The thing is, it’s important to be strong. It’s even more important to walk away smiling from such a situation. This shows that you have a careless attitude to something that happens to everyone eventually. In Jack Whitehall’s wise words: “get it wrong, gotta be strong.”
Get it wrong, gotta be strong.
This was once said by my idol. Jack Whitehall. It basically means that if you make a mistake or do something silly. You just have to laugh it off or throw the most awesome curveball. There is no point in dwelling about what happened or getting upset, annoyed or angry because let’s be honest, that won’t help the situation. You’ve just gotta make light of the situation because it will make it so much happier and worth it.
It’s okay to feel embarrassed, let’s be honest, it can be funny too. Embarrassment can be a very painful but important emotion. It makes us feel bad for the event that has just happened by forcing us to relive what has caused us to make us feel this way. It is an awful feeling because it’s one that makes us think that what we just did was wrong or stupid even though it was probably perfectly normal. We also tend to feel guilty. Basically, embarrassment is a massive cluster of emotions which have the ability to take over our whole thought process.
